First time coming here because my sister had recommended this spot on Victoria Drive. Service was super friendly, presentation of food was clean and their new restaurant location is bigger supposedly from their last place and decor inside is tastefully modern. We ordered:• #23 Bun Rieu (Special Crab Soup) Recommend $16.95• #6 Fried Fish CakeIf you like the traditional Vietnamese tomato Crab Soup this is a great one to try! I actually love the tomato soup across the street from this restaurant at viet mama cafe but this restaurant also does a great take on it! Highly recommend to try this flavour bomb, add the lime and bean sprouts! As for the fish cake, it was quite salty. Especially when they serve it with the tangy fish sauce. So instead I just added it to my soup. So I don’t recommend them but I’d definitely come back to try other menu items!

5 stars for foods, service, and value!! Weekday dinner at 6pm and no wait to be seated. Our foods came out 5 mins after ordering!Pho, club soup noodle, lemongrass beef, and fish cake were really good and tasty. Chicken wings and spring rolls were ok but not our favorite.

Very bright, clean and bigger space. Servers were quick and friendly but I guess she didn't understand when we asked her to replace fish instead of pork/ham on our soup. Huge portion but the taste is just ok. Only 3pieces of shrimp and no fish on the soup! It was good to try this restaurant but we are not coming back.

Special Beef pho soup was pretty good. 16.95 a bowl. The atmosphere is great. Kept with theme of food served here. Really like it. Recommend to check it out if around Burnaby area and have a craving for Vietnamese food.

Our absolute favourite Pho place to go! Decent prices and great flavour. We ordered the fried squid cakes, which were just like regular fish cakes. But the Salt and pepper chicken wings were very flavourful. We also ordered the Beef Pho noodle soup, lemongrass chicken and spring roll vermicelli, lemongrass chicken and spring roll on rice, and lemongrass chicken with pork chop on rice. All of those dishes were delicious as usual!

My 'must visit' Vietnamese restaurant everytime I go to Vancouver. I always love their bun rieu and squid cake noodle soups. Soups are always flavorful with generous toppings. Vietnamese coffee could be a little sweeter but I always ask for extra condense milk and they have no problem giving that. I always order extra squid cake to bring back to Calgary. Disappointed that they don't have squid cakes today so I settled for the fish cake soup which is equally satisfying. Excellent and efficient service as always!

Excellent Tasty Food. But have to be patient to wait for table but once seated food arrives fairly quickly.

We had been hearing about the Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen restaurant for quite some time, and a blogger recommended we try their signature dish - Bun Rieu, a special crab soup with vermicelli, which was identified as dish #23. We decided to order that along with other items like beef pho, chicken wings, and grilled lemongrass chicken and spring roll with vermicelli. We also ordered a cold and hot coffee to complete our meal. In all, our bill came to CAD 104, including tips. While I found the crab soup with vermicelli to be somewhat disappointing, as it tasted mainly of tomato, egg, and fish sauce, the beef pho was quite fresh and flavorful. The coffee was as authentic as it would be in Vietnam, though the portions were too small. The chicken wings were the highlight of our meal, surprisingly crispy and not oily, an absolute delight to savor.Perhaps, we over-ordered, as it was challenging to appreciate the subtle notes of the last dish - Grilled Lemongrass Chicken and Spring Roll with Vermicelli amidst the plethora of other flavors.Overall, if you want a good bowl of beef pho and amazing chicken wings, Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen is an excellent place to visit. However, the signature dish, Bun Rieu, fell short of our expectations.

Place has quick service, the broth is phenomenal and the portion size is large. I had the crab and meat soup and lemon soda, all were amazing. The place was full of patrons for a Monday dinner shift and I can see why, would come again.

It's great to see a restaurant not just survive but thrive through the pandemic, as this place has, moving from a tiny space with a few cramped tables to a spacious newly renovated room that seems at least 4 times larger yet is still so popular that the persistent lineups remain. Diners seem cheerful, with lively conversations and bubbly laughter. Air con.Needless to say, the food is reliably great, especially their marquee dish, the fish cake noodle soup. I tried the bún riêu, crab cake with vermicelli, which was delightful. The crab cake was ethereal, the soup satisfying to the soul. (8/10) This has got to be an iconic Vancouver dish. Also tried the salt and pepper chicken wings (8/10), curry beef (7.5), spring rolls (9), lemongrass beef (9), and lemongrass chicken (7). Service is very fast and friendly. Owner is super sweet. Noticed they now have a bar and beer on the menu. Definitely coming back to try other things on their expanded menu. One year later, place still super popular but food quality just okay, comparable to other similar establishments.
